Born in Saint Charles, Missouri, Justin is an American author, a prolific musician, a psalmist,
an apologist, a watchman, a revivalist, a monotheist, and a recording artist.
He is also the founder of Remnant Ministries and Awaken The Remnant. From a young age,
Justin had always pursued truth and found God when he was 18 years old.
Ever since, Jesus has been intrinsically part of Justin's life.
He was involved in the Scouting program, beginning in Tiger Cubs, workerd through Cub Scouts and
Boy Scouts and became one of the youngest in America to achieve Eagle Scout at the time.
He has always been interested in art and music from a young age, picking up guitar in his teen years.
While in his junior year of high school, Justin took a drama class and quickly realized he had a
passion for acting.
While in college, Justin was electrocuted in August 2005, only days after his 23rd birthday,
and spite the devastating news, it only strengthend his faith. In 2012, Justin began courting a girl
that would become his future wife on May 20th, 2017. He and his wife, Trina have been happily married
ever since. Justin has also ministered in word and song in churches, coffeehouses, schools,
festivals, music venues, homes, and anywhere that will welcome him and has continued in ministry
to this day.
Due to the alleged pandemic of 2020, Justin spent the summer in his home; however, did not allow time to be lost.
Having just released his first book before the world shutdown, Justin decided to spend his time at home writing,
releasing four more books over the next two years.
Some of Justin’s earliest musical influences include Johnny Cash, Ben Folds, Tom Petty, John Denver,
Bob Dylan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Beatles, Green Day, The Cure, David Bowie, Nirvana,
Smashing Pumpkins, The Traveling Wilburys, Oasis, Cake, Buddy Holly, Brian Setzer, The Ramones,
They Might Be Giants, Weird Al Yankovic, Stray Cats, The White Stripes, The Blues Brothers, Kansas,
Foo Fighters, Beck, The Doors, INXS, U2, Billy Joel.
Later influences include Matt Redman, Lindell Cooley, Robin Mark, John Waller, Brian Duncan,
All Sons and Daughters, Darrel Evans, Delirious, Radiant Worship, Third Day, Sonicflood, David Crowder,
Casting Crowns, Skillet, Jars of Clay, Audio Adrenaline, Thousand Foot Krutch, Kutless,
Phillips Craig and Dean, Keith Green, Reliant K, Five Iron Frenzy, and Lincoln Brewster.
Justin learned how to play guitar in 1997; however, didn’t consistently play until a few years later,
when his music career began at Twin Rivers Community Church on July 4, 2001. They had an outreach program called
First Friday Coffeehouse. Justin’s first show lasted three hours. From that point, Justin continued to lead worship
in many churches, coffee houses, schools, music venues, festivals, and anywhere that would have Justin play music.
He began writing music in early 2001, and continues to write unto this day. He has written over 900 songs and released
over 20 solo albums. Justin has written songs about life, about love, about and to Jesus.
In 2002, Justin formed a band. Beginning as a 3-piece punk rock band, averylayne was Ryan Ball (bass), Cullen Williams (drums),
and Justin Church (guitar and vocals). In 2005, Ryan left the band to finish his college education and Josh Kehe
joined as the new bassist.
Shortly after Josh joined the band, Justin ran into one of his good friends, Mark Droste, and discovered he had just quit a
previous band and was interested in jamming with Justin. They quickly discovered Mark’s classical and metal influence fit
perfectly with Justin’s punk and new wave sound. Mark joined the band as the lead guitarist in the fall of 2005.
From that point, averylayne’s punk sound was melded with Mark’s melodic metal undertones creating a very unique and eclectic
style of punk metal. averylayne was also introduced to a new drummer that same year, Terry Schott.
Together, Justin, Mark, Josh, and Terry continued to preform until the band concluded on December 27, 2007.
In January 2008, Justin began his solo career and continues to actively preform and record to the present day.
In 2017, Justin formed a worship band, Crossing Jordan, with one of his best friends he met while playing shows, James Dean.
They have been playing ever since. Justin on vocals and guitar, and James on drums and vocals.
With guest singing appearances of both James’ wife, Jaime, and Justin’s wife, Trina.
The pursuit of Truth led Justin to Christ Jesus December 31st, 2000 when he confessed Jesus
to be LORD, Savior, and God. In the summer of 2010, Justin read Acts 19:1-6, and while having read
this passage a number of times, it finally grabbed a hold of him, specifically Acts 19:2:
“...Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?…”
For the first time, Justin had clarity of mind, in that receiving the Holy Ghost and belief are
two separate events, and while they can occur simultaneously, they are not one in the same.
Within weeks, Justin was determined and on Friday, August 20, 2010, during a youth revival week,
he received the gift of the Holy Ghost, speaking in tongues as the Spirit gave utterance. Justin was
baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission (forgiveness) of sin on Sunday, August 29, 2010.
He has served in various roles in multiple churches in the mid-west, including as worship leader,
youth pastor, teacher, drama director, outreach director, nursing home ministry, prison ministry
to name a few.
Justin has always challenged the boundaries of Biblical thinking. He will never manipulate an emotional response;
rather, focus completely on an authentic move of the Holy Ghost that prepares our souls for an eternity with Jesus.
Justin will only share the unadulterated, true and holy Word of God that demands transformation and obedience as we pursue
the only living God: Christ Jesus.
Justin believes in complete restoration, which includes tearing down historical, political,
and traditional filters so we may allow the Word of God to stand alone and speak for Itself:
How one must live in accordance to the Scriptures, including a life of modesty in spirit, mind, character,
and image.
